Patient summary
Fluconazole capsules and oral solution from 50mg to 200mg, used in the management of candidiasis and cryptococcal meningitis. A triazole antifungal.
Mechanism of action
Fluconazole inhibits the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme 14-alpha-demethylase. This disruption prevents the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane, thereby inhibiting fungal growth.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy: Avoid unless deemed essential. Breastfeeding: Use with caution as it is excreted in breast milk.
Diflucan is the original brand containing fluconazole, a potent antifungal medication indicated for the treatment of candidiasis and cryptococcal meningitis. The same active ingredient is also sold under brand names such as Forcan, supplied as a tablet in strengths of 50mg, 100mg, 150mg and 200mg. This antifungal remains a standard option for patients requiring systemic treatment.
Buying Diflucan online
Generic fluconazole offers a far more affordable alternative to the original brand for patients across the region. Ordering online provides a reliable access point for expats and locals living far from a well stocked pharmacy, ensuring consistent supply of essential treatments regardless of location.
Do I get the original Diflucan?
No. SGMeds ships a generic with the same active ingredient (fluconazole) at the strength you choose, not the original Diflucan made by Pfizer. We use the brand name so you can find the medicine, and the generic's manufacturer varies with stock.
What is Diflucan for?
Diflucan is used for thrush (candidiasis) and cryptococcal meningitis.
How is Diflucan priced?
Diflucan comes in 50, 100, 150 and 200mg strengths, in packs of 10 to 180 tablets. Each option's price is shown on this page in Singapore dollars, converted from US dollars, so the exchange rate can change the final amount. Larger packs work out cheaper per tablet.
Payment and prices →What other brands contain the same active ingredient as Diflucan?
In other countries, fluconazole is also sold as Forcan.
What are the side effects of Diflucan?
The most common side effects of fluconazole are nausea, diarrhoea, headache and abdominal pain. Less common ones are rash, alopecia and elevated liver enzymes. Serious side effects include a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), a severe skin reaction (Stevens-Johnson syndrome) and liver damage (hepatotoxicity). Get medical help straight away if you notice one of these serious effects.
What does Diflucan interact with?
Fluconazole can interact with warfarin, rifampicin and an immune-suppressing medicine (ciclosporin). Before you start Diflucan, tell your doctor or pharmacist about any medicines, supplements or herbal remedies you take.
Can I buy Diflucan over the counter in Singapore?
Yes, online. SGMeds does not ask for a prescription to order Diflucan: we place the order with our pharmacy partner, which prepares it and arranges delivery on your behalf.

How ordering works →What you will receive
Diflucan is the originator brand name, made by Pfizer. We use it here to identify the medicine only; we are not affiliated with Pfizer and do not ship the original Diflucan.
- You receive a generic equivalent: the same active ingredient (Fluconazole) at the same dose, mostly recognised Indian branded generics from vetted manufacturers.
- The exact brand supplied depends on what is in stock at the dispatching warehouse.
- A regulated generic matches the original ingredient for ingredient by legal standard.
