Key points

  • Weight, swelling, blood pressure, kidney function and electrolytes guide treatment response.
  • Vomiting, diarrhoea, poor intake and interacting medicines can cause dehydration or electrolyte imbalance.
  • Fainting, severe weakness, confusion or an irregular heartbeat needs urgent assessment.

Listings are for comparison only. Suitability and supply depend on clinician and pharmacy checks, stock, destination rules and prescription requirements.

How it works

Torsemide blocks sodium-potassium-chloride transport in the loop of Henle, increasing urine output and reducing excess fluid.

Important safety checks

Kidney and liver function, blood pressure, sodium, potassium, magnesium, gout and hearing symptoms require review. Anti-inflammatory painkillers, lithium and other blood-pressure or diuretic medicines can interact. Follow the treating team’s sick-day and weight-monitoring plan.

When to seek urgent care

Seek urgent help for fainting, severe confusion or weakness, a sustained irregular heartbeat, very low urine output, sudden hearing loss, severe breathlessness or facial swelling with breathing difficulty.
