Terazosin relaxes blood vessels and smooth muscle around the prostate and bladder outlet. It may be used for benign prostatic hyperplasia or hypertension.

Terazosin blocks alpha-1 receptors in blood vessels and prostate or bladder-neck smooth muscle, reducing vascular resistance and resistance to urine flow.
