Desonide activates corticosteroid receptors in skin cells, reducing inflammatory signals, redness and itching.
Skin infection, acne, rosacea, pregnancy and other topical steroids require review. Use on thin skin or under an occlusive dressing can increase absorption. Prolonged use can thin skin and rarely suppress adrenal function.
Seek urgent help for facial swelling or breathing difficulty. Arrange prompt assessment for rapidly spreading redness, severe pain, fever, pus, extensive blistering, eye pain or new visual change after use near the eye.
