Patient summary
Tazarotene 1% and 5% cream and gel, applied to the skin for plaque psoriasis and acne vulgaris. A retinoid prodrug converted to tazarotenic acid.
Mechanism of action
Tazarotene is a receptor-selective retinoid prodrug that is converted to its active form, tazarotenic acid. It binds to retinoic acid receptors (RAR) to modulate gene expression involved in cell differentiation and proliferation, reducing epidermal hyperplasia.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy: Contraindicated; must use effective contraception. Breastfeeding: Not recommended.
Tazorac features tazarotene as the active ingredient, used for the management of Plaque Psoriasis and Acne Vulgaris. The same ingredient is also sold under the brand name Zorac, supplied in a tube. This medication is available in concentrations of 0.05% and 0.1%.
Buying Tazorac online
Generic tazarotene, much of it made in India, is significantly more affordable than the original brand, offering an accessible solution for expats and those living far from home.
What you will receive
Tazorac is the originator brand name, made by AbbVie. We use it here to identify the medicine only; we are not affiliated with AbbVie and do not ship the original Tazorac.
- You receive a generic equivalent: the same active ingredient (Tazarotene) at the same dose, mostly recognised Indian branded generics from vetted manufacturers.
- The exact brand supplied depends on what is in stock at the dispatching warehouse.
- A regulated generic matches the original ingredient for ingredient by legal standard.
