Bempedoic Acid
Bempedoic acid lowers LDL cholesterol by reducing cholesterol production in the liver. It may be used alongside diet and other lipid-lowering treatment after cardiovascular risk and treatment tolerance are reviewed. Listed uses include primary hypercholesterolaemia and mixed dyslipidaemia.

How it works
Bempedoic acid inhibits ATP citrate lyase, an enzyme earlier in the liver’s cholesterol-production pathway than the enzyme blocked by statins.
