Tranexamic acid slows breakdown of formed blood clots and can reduce bleeding in selected settings. It does not identify or treat the underlying cause of abnormal bleeding. Listed uses include menorrhagia and haemorrhage.

How it works
Tranexamic acid blocks lysine-binding sites on plasminogen, reducing conversion to plasmin and slowing fibrin-clot breakdown.
