Key takeaways

  • Tinidazole may be used for infections such as giardiasis or trichomoniasis after appropriate diagnosis.
  • Alcohol, pregnancy, liver disease and medicines affecting the nervous system or blood require review.
  • A seizure, new numbness, severe confusion or a serious allergic reaction needs urgent care.

Listings are for comparison only. Suitability and supply depend on clinician and pharmacy checks, stock, destination rules and prescription requirements.

How it works

Tinidazole is activated inside susceptible anaerobic organisms and damages their DNA, preventing survival and replication.

Important safety checks

Follow product instructions about avoiding alcohol during and after treatment. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, blood disorders, liver disease and neurological disease require review. Sexual partners may need assessment in trichomoniasis to prevent reinfection.

When to seek urgent care

Seek urgent help for a seizure, severe confusion, marked unsteadiness, new burning, numbness or weakness, facial swelling, breathing difficulty, a painful blistering rash or severe persistent or bloody diarrhoea.
