Dasatinib
Dasatinib is a targeted cancer medicine used for selected BCR-ABL-positive leukaemias. It can suppress blood cells and cause fluid around the lungs or heart. Listed uses include chronic myeloid leukaemia and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

How it works
Dasatinib inhibits BCR-ABL and several other tyrosine kinases involved in malignant-cell growth and signalling.
Important safety checks
Blood counts, liver function, heart rhythm, fluid retention and infection or bleeding symptoms require monitoring. Acid-reducing medicines can lower absorption, while anticoagulants and antiplatelet medicines can increase bleeding. Do not stop or alter treatment without the oncology team.
