Key points

  • Menopausal status, cancer features and previous treatment determine whether anastrozole is appropriate.
  • Lower oestrogen can reduce bone density and cause joint symptoms; bone and cardiovascular risk may need monitoring.
  • New chest pain, stroke symptoms or a severe allergic reaction needs urgent care.

Listings are for comparison and general information, not an oncology regimen; suitability and supply depend on specialist and pharmacy checks, monitoring and prescription requirements.

Important safety checks

Pregnancy potential, bone density, fracture history, cholesterol, heart disease, liver function and other hormonal products require review. Do not stop cancer treatment without the oncology team.

When to seek urgent care

Seek emergency help for chest pain, sudden breathlessness, facial droop, one-sided weakness, speech difficulty or facial swelling with breathing difficulty.
